Raven's Feather
The material was created through the process of repeatedly folding and forging two carbon steels: NMV and 15N20, resulting in a distinct, organic pattern resembling a feather running along the entire length of the material.
The contrast between the steels creates a dynamic, fluid pattern that reveals the full depth of the damask structure after etching. The use of 15N20 steel (with nickel added) ensures bright lines in the pattern, while NMV provides darker contrast and excellent utility properties.
Each flat bar is unique – the arrangement of layers and the pattern never repeat in exactly the same way.
The material is perfect for making:

The flat bar was hand-forged at Loci Knives and Tools, with attention to the quality of the structure and the aesthetics of the pattern.
