The material was created by repeatedly folding and forging two carbon steels: NMV and 15N20, resulting in a distinct, organic pattern resembling a feather running along the entire length of the material.
The contrast between the steels creates a dynamic, flowing pattern that, after etching, reveals the full depth of the damascus structure. The use of 15N20 steel (with nickel added) provides bright lines in the pattern, while NMV is responsible for darker contrast and excellent functional properties.
Each flat bar is unique – the layer arrangement and pattern design never repeat in an identical way.
The material is ideal for making:
- utility and kitchen knives
- collector's knives
- custom projects requiring exceptional steel aesthetics
The flat bar was hand-forged in the Loci Knives and Tools smithy, with attention to the quality of the structure and the aesthetics of the pattern.
Material features:
- type: carbon damascus
- pattern: Feather Damascus
- steels: NMV / 15N20
- process: hand forging and layer folding
- purpose: knifemaking / custom projects
If you are creating a knife that needs to stand out with both its functional properties and unique appearance – this damascus will be an excellent base for your project.
