The distinctive feature of Black River is an impressive arrangement of layers made of copper, nickel, and tool steel, arranged in a vivid Damascus pattern that after etching reveals clear contrasts and characteristic wavy lines on the sides of the material. Two intensely black strips of K720 steel, separating the copper-nickel Damascus on each side, perfectly emphasize the three-dimensionality and depth of the pattern – it is from these strips that the laminate takes its name.

The Black River pattern stands out beautifully both on large surfaces and on profiled blade shapes. The layers of copper and nickel shine against the dark steel background, creating a coherent, natural composition inspired by geology – like a cross-section of complex river sediments or mineral veins in rock.
